Notice about Use of Generative AI in regards to Ethics and the Environment

I want to make it clear that I am EXTREMELY against the use of generative AI because of (1) unethical and nonconsensual data scraping, (2) the environmental impacts of AI training, and (3) its insult to artistry.

Long before the existence generative AI, singing and speech synthesis has always existed. As someone with a background in vocal synthesis , I kept these things in mind when choosing to use open-source TTS-software VOICEVOX by Hiho and freeware COEIROINK by Shirowanisan(built from VOICEVOX's UI.)

(1) VOICEVOX and COEIROINK's methods of collecting data are consensual, each AI voice respecting their voice provider's with an individually crafted license. (2) With vocal synthesizers being a more local/collaborative project with significantly smaller scope than popular generative AI programs, the environmental footprint left by their usage is entirely incomparable to that of ChatGPT and Character AI, which each have millions of active users worldwide.

As for point (3), it is worth noting that vocalsynths are a subculture of their own. Rather than being a program that merely lazily generates a product, it creates a sound-source and provides users with the tools to modify. The use of AI character voices in this game is NOT out of disrespect for voice actors, rather, it was used simply because of my personal respect and enjoyment of vocal synthesis.
