Open Beta LAUNCH!


Hi all! Today the open beta of SAILOR ALICE (v. 1.0b) has launched! The open beta period will last from now to August 10th.

Some things I'm looking for:

  • First impressions
  • Feedback on writing, game design
  • Bug reports
  • Any feedback is great!! This is my first time developing a game and I'm a complete amateur. So of course the more I can learn, the better!


And of course, here's the feedback & bug report forum!

NOTES:

  • Duration of one playthrough ~ 2 - 3 hours
  • ED. 3 is only meant to be accessible after clearing either ED. 1 or ED. 2
  • Credit rolls are meant to change based on whether the player has already cleared that ending
  • A lot of art assets are not included in the beta version. This includes CGs and images from the encyclopedia.

Game Info:

Sailor Alice: Alice at Sea is a nautical fantasy adventure made in RPG MAKER MZ. The story follows the shut-in elf Lilibet, after she sends off her apprentice to become the hero that saves the princess. Shortly after her student's departure however, the innocent request of a red skinned foreigner sets in motion a series of events... Something's... not right about the sea, is it...? 

 In 200 years, the world's atmosphere will collapse. Bringing disasters such as extreme weather, this is known as the "mana crisis." An environmentalist of 2,000 years, Lilibet has long abandoned her hope. If she can recover all her memories, perhaps she'll find a person who's still fighting. A "hero."

DISCLAIMER

By the nature of the story's premise (exploring how different lifespans among fantasy races would affect their reaction to a resource-based crisis), many topics poked on are somewhat based on real-world issues and/or politics. My hope as the author is that SAILOR ALICE does NOT come off as an attempt to convince the player to believe a certain ideology-- rather-- I hope it invites the player to reimagine current circumstances. 

One of the main themes is that people have to work together. I look to activism and the discussion of social issues because I think that is the best example of that. More importantly, it is also something that can truly change the world and make a difference. Thank you.
